1¾ oz Bianco Vermouth, Contratto†
¾ oz Galliano
Mint garnish
Stir, strain, straight up, mint garnish.
A comfortable first date with Fernet Branca, if you're not already intimate. The Fernet is clearly the star of this cocktail, while the sweetness of the vermouth and the vanilla of the Galliano manage to tame its bolder qualities without sacrificing any of the character. The result is a harmonious and fragrant blend of mint, vanilla and intrigue.
† The original recipe calls for Cinzano Bianco, but here in Ontario vermouth is a scarce resource. The Contratto is lovely, though, if you can find it.
